UK Travel Help Needed?

So I'm going to be in Scotland (Stirling) in September, October, November and December and as a HUGE fan of Doc Martin I'd love to go see Port Isaac. I was searching for nearby hostels and airports/train stations but was running a bit out of luck. It seems the closest hostel to PI is in Newquay which Google maps say is a good 45 min. drive. I won't have a car so I'm wondering how can I get from Stirling to Port Isaac the cheapest (and in a timely manner) and then get a cheap lodging? Do you suggest staying in Newquay and going to PI for the day and coming back? Is there a train station near Port Isaac or a bus system? I'm from the States so I have no idea :P Any help is really appreciated.

Sounds like it could be a blocked milk duct. I had this, which in my case led to mastitis several times. Expressing made the pain worse and feeding relieved it. One doctor I went to see told me it was thrush, another said mastitis. Antibiotics worked miracles. Mention it to your health visitor. In the meantime I am afraid there is little you can do. A warm bath/compress can help ease it a bit. I would definitely say keep feeding as normal until you have been to clinic.

What are snake eggs supposed to look like after 24 hours?

My corn snake laid a couple eggs 24 hours ago, so I put them in a home made incubator (7 or 8 hours ago), put heating pad under there and put it back in the original cage with a small heat lamp above it. (I also put some water in the material to make it moist, and I did not put water directly on the eggs). As of right now they look kind of dry. They are still kind of white, but they have the slightest hint of yellow. My question is: Is this normal? What should they look like after 24 hours? And lastly, if they do end up dying, is it a big deal? I eventually want to have more eggs (i recently put a male snake in the cage), and I am wondering if there is going to be another chance for them to mate. And if they do mate, how soon will it be? Somethings not right with my body?

Well to begin with my periods been all screwed up the last few months, i have an ulcer, i have vaginal discharge that is brown and acidic almost but not a lot only a little, but its been happeneing every day for a couple weeks. Pelvic pain mainly right side. Like all of the sudden i will have a sharp shooting pain there or sometimes jusyba dull ache. I have had heartburn off and on whichbi absolutely never get. Eye Turn Surgery is it safe?

My boy of 2 has severe eye turn in right eye have been told that only surgery will correct the turn its at a scale of 50 he will live with this until he is at least 40 ish unless we have surgery which will hopefully straighten he is slightly long sighted with prescription of +1.25 which orthoptic clinic say its not enough to warrant a 2 year old wearing glasses his right eye when tested is not as sharp as left eye as the pictures they showed him far away that were tiny he only got correct on second time of asking but she is not concerned his sight is suffering too much she also says the eye turn surgery is purely cosmetic and he still may need patching to help that right eye get stronger in near future but for now they keeping close eye and seeing regularly i dont want my boy getting picked on throughout his school years like my best friend did but how succesful are these ops has anyone had to go back have it done more times obviously is a slight chance it will go back but can have op done again i am just so scared and confused by it all she said no amount of glasses or patching will make that turn go it may make it less noticeable but not gone like surgery would is this scale of 50 the worst case then? any professional opticians out there or surgeons ???

Chicks are supposed to hatch around day 21, some do it before, some after. I usually give them 28 days, then if nothing I dispose of them. I don't normally candle, but I do the same thing you do, I pick them up & tap on them. I don't always hear anything either, then I get a surprise in a day or 2. If you saw the progress, they should be fine, you just have to be patient & let nature take its course. You said that you turned the incubator on around 11PM, do you not leave it on all the time? I keep mine at 100 degrees & constantly have it turned on. The thermostat tells the heater when to come on. When you open the incubator you let out humidity. It doesn't hurt to mist the eggs when you open the incubator when they're close to hatching. Good luck & have fun! :)

Themostat broke during incubation?

hi, my corn snake eggs are about 2weeks from hatching and last night i checked the temperatures of the incubator and every thing was fine it was 82F but about 10-15minutes later i checked the temps again b4 going 2 sleep and the temps were 100.1F and my thermostat was still on... i panicked and took the eggs out and turn the thermostat off and checked the eggs, they were hard instead of being firm. to be on the safe side i returned the eggs back 2 the incubator but turn it all off...... and this morning i checked them and they do look fine and feel firm again... what i was wondering is that could the eggs still be alive after being them temps for about 10-15minutes??? i have a new thermostat now and everything is back to normal temps wise....... and still the eggs seem fine 20hours later... thanks for any help

Sharp shooting pain in head, is it serious?

Hi I'm 15 and today while I was playing video games I felt a popping sensation toward the middle of my head more towards where my neck is located. After that I felt a quick sharp pain towards the back of my neck, after the pain my neck felt hot like if it were burning. After theses sensations went away I got another sharp intense pain that started on left side of the back of my neck and it ran up towards the left side of my head and the pain reached my ear. This pain lasted about 30 seconds. Could this be serious? I sometimes get anxious and I'm worried about strokes and aneurysms.

I have 4 white leghorns and a roster. My chooks are not sitting on their fertilized eggs! Are we going to have to incubate them? My chooks sit on their eggs at night, but leave them all day long. I heard that you can hatch the chicks then in the night when they are asleep you can take the eggs out from underneath them then put the chicks under (I think it's suppost to make them think the eggs hatched). The small tree in the front yard has a nest in it. One day I went to look at it and a Mommy bird is sitting in it. Extreme pain my left knee cap?

Im 17. Stand at 5'11". Weigh 275lbs. I go into the weight room and do anything involving my knee and my left knee hurts. To be exact, it's my left knee cap off to left. It gets this intense pain. I do leg press at 480lbs 24 times a 3 sets. It's not difficult at all, it's easy. But I can run a mile as well and my leg will hurt. It doesn't hurt to stand up, it hurts when I bend my knee past 30 degrees and back. The farther I go, the more it hurts. I just got done atving in Oregon sand dunes and I thought it was getting out of hand. Anyone know what's going on? The pain was dull at first, the first day but now it's a sharp intense pain that last. Also, I know I'm overweight but im a football linemen so Im a good mix of muscle and fat. Noise in throat when I close it?

When I close my throat muscles while opening my mouth wide, I hear a kind of sharp squishing noise, like a clicking noise. It's the area in the back of my throat around the tonsil area. Why do I sweat and why do my feet smell?

For a few years now I have come across the issue of how my feet smell, even after I shower. It is a very rank smell and I don't really know how to describe it. It's not a sweat smell, just a dirty smell. I have also had issues with excessive sweating through-out the night. I don't know if it's anxiety or what, but regardless of the room temperature, I generally wake up in the morning, coated in sweat. It's not at the point where everything is soaked, but I do wake up feeling hungover as if I had drank the night before... I guess that could be from my loss of hydration through sweating. I apparently snore a lot, so could the possibility be sleep apnea? Does sleep apnea even cause night sweats? I am not entirely sure what this could mean for me. Also lately I have been getting extreme pain in the right side of my lower back where the flesh is... I guess that would be where the kidney is... or the liver? It's been a shooting sharp pain sometimes and will usually last for hours. I don't know if any of this is even related but any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Accidentally swallow some chewing gum, now have pains in stomach ?

I was on the bus on the was home chewing some gum when we went over a bump and I accidentally swallowed my chewing gum. I think 4-5 otos would do well in your tank. If you are dilligent in keeping your water quality, I'm not too concerned. The other species don't seem to be a problem either, and won't pick on the otos. Otos do like a planted setup in my experience, and don't spend much time on the substrate. And snce they don't have fragile barbels like corydoras, there's nothing to be eroded away. Only concern would be their bellied. I would look up the species of algae your friend has, algae eaters are very particular and the otos might not eat the type she has. I say give it a shot. If not, use algae wafers, cucumber/zucchini, those seaweed sheets, and lettuce. Also make sure the betta won't pick on them, but since they're not colorful or flashy I believe they'll be fine.

I've been taking birth control consistently for four months. Every thing was normal. I had my normal menstrual cycle and it stopped almost two weeks ago. There was a storm a couple of hours ago and we found a nest far away from trees w/ some baby finches in them. They look like they are only a few days old, and we have them in an incubator. I'm hatching out baby chicks and i have looked online and everyone is saying all kinds of different % readings from 50% to 65% for the first 18 days and then after 18 days 65% to 75% and for the humidity right now i have finally managed to get it to 55% humidity and when it is time to stop turning them my other incubator i got it up to 80% humidity so what is the ideal humidity for the first 18 days and the last 3 days remaining until hatch?

I've also been drinking alot of milk because 2 days ago I was at the hospital and found out I have calcium deficiency! Its kind of under and to the side of my left breast! I'm 17 years old, and while at the doctor 2 days ago, he listened to my heart and everything was fine so it's not a heart attack (I hope) it's a sharp stabbing pain that comes and go! I have a 2 day old duck egg in my care - dont worry its in an incubator and its perfectly fine, im doing everything right! (my friend is away, but she is an experienced duck egg hatcher and she set up the incubator for me) Only, this is my first time as an 'adoptive mother' :) and im just wondering, if I shine a light through the egg, it is perfectly clear apart from a shadow on the opposite side. I know this is a good sign, but what im wondering is, is the shadow supposed to move or is it supposed to stay where it is, even if I roll the egg?

Question about possibly going into labor?

I will be 40 weeks this Friday, July 1. Tuesday when I went to the doctor I was 3cm dialated and 80% effaced. I have tried many thing to kick start labor...sex,walking (MILES AND MILES) pineapple, spicy food, chinease food, fresh pineapple, bouncing on an excercise ball and probably a lot of other things i cant think of right now. Well I am having tons of pressure..when i stand or walk i feel as if she is really low..and a few minutes ago i started getting these sharp pains in my lower abdomen. The other day, I was cleaning out my beardie's cage and found a clutch of nine eggs (its her first time). I knew that they were dead, as they were completley deflated and rotting. I disected one, and found a tiny dead beardie. Obviously, the eggs were fertilized. Of course, this broke my heart - I didn't know she had laid them, as even though I suspected she was gravid, she hadn't gotten bigger in over a week, and didn't see a difference in her behavoir. Yes...you can move them. They are kinda like a soft leathery, but you still need to be careful as to pick them up and keep them as still as possible and place them the exact way that you picked them up. they may be stuck to each other or the surface that she laid them on. they do not need to be separate, but if you see what looks like an yellowish looking egg then those are slugs and are no good.those will need tp be pulled away,(normally she will push these off to the side because she knows they are bad). if they stuck to the surface where she laid them, you can pull on them very gently from one side or the other kinda like pealing off a sticker without tearing it, just do it slowly so when they come free you dont jerk them around too much. then just place them in a container and place the somewhere where the temps stay between 80-84 degrees and in 55-60 days you should start seeing them pip.

Foxtail in my dog's nose?

So I asked a question previous to this, and I'm thinking my dog has a foxtail in his nose. It could have been lodged in since Monday (so it has been about 4 days since, he had blood near his nose/mouth and sneezed a lot) but another could have easily entered his nose because our yard was covered with foxtails; even now some can spread with the wind so getting rid of them is not a guarantee that my dog has a completely foxtail-free environment. The problem is, I went to the vet and he said that my dog didn't have foxtails because he wasn't sneezing and he checked his fur/ears but not his throat/nose. I left satisfied, but my dog has started to sneeze again...this morning 12 times in a row. Could it be allergies? His nose is runny and sneezes intensely once in a while. I read somewhere that dogs can seem like they are okay because they stop sneezing, but that could be because the foxtail is in the sinus cavity. I don't know if I'm being too paranoid, but any valuable information would be appreciated. Is there any way I could use a home remedy to help? What are the chances that he will die if a foxtail is inside of him? What's the difference between a dog sneezing because of allergies or because of a foxtail?

I'm writing a book but I can't come up with a name for the title! The story is about these creatures who start out in a lab in incubators as babies, and as they grow older they start uncovering more secrets about the bad things that happened in the past, like the war with an evil clan of monsters and stuff. Their parents don't really want them to know or anything, 'cause now the evil clan has returned to turn them over to the "dark side." The teen-aged creatures then try to find out more and ultimately try to save their fellow "good" creatures. In my story, the creatures that can pass as human, do. But humans know they exist. I was watching a bird's nest for a while, there was an American Goldfinch and a Brown-Headed Cowbird in the nest. This nest was a result of brood parasitism, from the Cowbird. The two birds hatched and I began observing them. Already there was a HUGE size difference between the two babies. Anyways, three days after they hatched, and went to go check on them. The nest was empty (and destroyed). On the ground was the two baby birds. I immediately took the baby birds inside, and put them in my brooder/incubator. The Cowbird was eating perfectly and growing. The American Goldfinch was not healthy. Before I could take him to a rehabber, he died (two days after I took him in). Now I have been handfeeding the cowbird for almost a week, and starting to wean him. I am experienced bird keeper... So he is in the best of care. I have some other birds, and they are now bonded with him as well! I am just wondering, is it legal to keep a Brown-Headed Cowbird as a pet (because of the brood parasitism, many people are prejudiced against them... and even kill them! Sharp shooting pain in head, is it serious?

Hi I'm 15 and today while I was playing video games I felt a popping sensation toward the middle of my head more towards where my neck is located. After that I felt a quick sharp pain towards the back of my neck, after the pain my neck felt hot like if it were burning. After theses sensations went away I got another sharp intense pain that started on left side of the back of my neck and it ran up towards the left side of my head and the pain reached my ear. This pain lasted about 30 seconds. Could this be serious? I sometimes get anxious and I'm worried about strokes and aneurysms.

Im almost 25 weeks pregnant and I am having trouble with my right arm. Both of my hands keep falling asleep when I lay down it gets worse. My right arm seems worse my wrist gets to hurting and then I get sharp pains up and down my whole arm. Both of my hands keep swelling and going numb but my right arm does it worse I even had to take my ring off that hand cause it was digging in to my finger. Can you over crowd eggs in an incubator?

I have a regular round (maybe 1 and a few inches feet in diameter) incubater. I have it filled with peacock, quail, chicken, turkey, and guinea eggs I have to manually turn them and they just sit on a metal grate. All the eggs were put in at different times. the quail will hatch in 8 days and the chicken, 1 turkey, some peacock, some guinea eggs i just put in yesterday. The original 6 turkey 3 peacock and 4 guinea will hatch soon (within a week or two). Is this too much, im still able to turn them. I know eggs have to breath and this is a still air incubater all metal. are they overcrowded?

I just purchased a cutter mattock, and the adze end isn't as sharp as I think it should be. In fact, its rather dull. I'm thinking I should definitely sharpen the axe end, but I'm not so sure about the other. Are they supposed to be Sharp? And how sharp if so?

Can a random white/string like thing cause an infection in my eye?

Today I went to the park with my classmates and wile i was at the park something got stuck in my bottom part of the eye. it is white and string like, could it be puss? I have allergies witch makes it worse for that eye. It is extremely ichy, very watery (because of the random object/its trying to get rid of it and clean it out), blury, and red at the corner in witch the object is lodged. Its also very sore and is very squinty, swollen, almost like i have cherry eye where the water ceptors are. Ok so i was outside with my friend passing a soccer ball and suddenly we see a squirrel knock a nest from a tree. We ran over to it and the eggs inside were unharmed so we went inside and watched the nest for 10 min but no mother. afraid the babies would die we took the nest inside but it in a plastic box with some paper towels a steaming hot paper towel thats wet and its over a heating pad. I have 8 eggs in an incubator, some are wobbling and one or two are PEEPING but they aren't any pipping, and it is day 20 I have a little giant still air incubator and I keep it uncovered ( that means without a towel over it) I just have the lid on it. but I really want them to hatch should I cover the incubator up with a towel or just leave them the way they are? and the temperature is at about 101 degrees F. and I am sorry for asking so many questions but I am concerned for the little chicks and I have not opened the incubator since day 18 and I have an automatic egg turner so I don't have to worry about turning

It feels like i have a stabbing, pulsating pain right around my ovary area during my period? More on one side than the other. But it feels like its right in one area the whole time and its small, not very sharp, kind of annoying pain but its pulsating too..? Its kind of hard to explain but i did my best. 39 weeks preg and sharp twinges and tightening, help?

My best friend was in a car accident May 19 and since then she hasn't been off her period more than a week at a time. She's also bleeding heavier than normal. The way she wrecked is she was in the fast lane on the highway doing about 60 and someone clipped her in her quarter panel from the next lane over, causing her to spin out of control and hit the center median. When she went to Urgent Care, they told her she had whiplash and a sprained wrist but when she told them she was having sharp pains in her lower abdomen where the seatbelt was they disregarded it. I have pain in the plantar region of my large toe where the phalanges meet the metatarsals. This pain hurts when I stand on the balls of my feet and its a deep sharp pain. My toe has been like this since December 2010 and it has not gone away. The pain increases when I walk or run or after any other physical activities that involves feet. Recently we found a nest of house sparrow eggs in a small tree near one of the windows in our house. The mother came back at least once where we can count, and my mom accidentally moved the curtain while the mother bird was there. She flew away and we haven't seen her since. I am military and have been dealing with pain from two bulging discs in my lower back since Easter.?

First it started with a numb leg with sharp shooting pains and tingling and pain, then my foot started hurting when input pressure on it, the military sent me to a neurologist that said I have meragia prosthetica which is associated with obesity (I'm 110 lbs) pregnancy and diabetes which I don't have and sent mr for an MRI. MRI showed slight bulge in l4 l5 and l5 s1 which wasn't significant enough to do anything about. Since then it's gotten so much worse my back is killing me feels like a truck has ran over me. They next sent me to pain mngmnt which said he couldn't diagnose me and that I needed a full neurological work up so I went back to base and they out in a referral to a teaching hospital which needed two weeks to decide I'f they would even take me so then I went back to dr on base and found out they denied me, so now my dr on base says he don't know what to do that I need to find a neurologist and he'd out the federal in for me. I'm at my wits end and in extreme amount of pain they won't give me any meds since I had disc fusion in dec and have been on lortab since which don't work at all and I feel like the military isn't helping me. I can barely walk can't work lost my job over this can hardly make my bills and don't know what to do! Please help! What can I do next, I'm a military dependent and I don't know where else to go went to er twice and they won't do anything either just sent me away. I just need out of pain.
